Drifting volcanic ash plume from Iceland is keeping nearly 2/3 of Europe’s commercial flights grounded. It’s expensive. The industry is estimating the volcano was costing airlines at least $200 million a day.

The Securities and Exchange Commission today accused investment giant Goldman Sachs of civil fraud. It accuses Goldman of failing to inform investors about conflicts of interest in mortgage investments it sold as the housing market was faltering.

Russian and U.S. officials have given birthday gifts to the 8-year-old boy who was returned to Russia by his adoptive American mother. Flowers, a cake and toy car went to Artyom Savelyev who was sent unaccompanied to Moscow last week with a note from his adoptive mother.

This little feline may be down to 8 lives now. It was found in Chicago after wandering away from his New Mexico home 8 months ago. An animal shelter was threatening to euthanize it if his owner did not come back. But arrangements have been made to get him home safely.
