Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has called the two female suicide bombers "beasts" after at least 38 were killed in Moscow.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin declared that the "terrorists will be destroyed".

Witnesses described panic after the blasts at two Moscow stations as morning commuters tried to escape the worst attack on Moscow in six years.

At least 72 others were injured but officials say the death toll is expected to rise. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks but some analysts are linking the attacks to North Caucasus insurgents.
