Notes: work out是个很常见的短语，意义也很多，比较常用的有“解决，算出”，但它也有“做运动”，“成功地发展”的意义。例如：

We are trying to work out that difficult math problem.
我们正尝试算出那道困难的数学题。

We should work out regularly to keep fit.
为了保持健康，我们应该经常做运动。

My new job didn’t work out very well.
我的新工作进展得并不是很顺利。

 

2. get a crush on
迷恋……

片中例句：

That little boy is doing those terrible things because he’s got a crush on you.
那个男孩对你这么刻薄是因为他喜欢上你了。

Notes: “get a crush on”这个短语在爱情影片中经常出现，“crush”在这里的意思是迷恋。这个短语表示深深爱上某人，迷恋某人。例：

He got a crush on his neighbour, an elegant lady.
他迷上了他的邻居,一位优雅的女士。

3. grab a late bite
吃夜宵

片中例句：

- Hey, it’s me. Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you.

Notes: 寒冷冬日，吃个夜宵取取暖也是不错的。如何用英文表达呢？就是这个很形象的短语“grab a late bite”。例如：

I grab a late bite with my colleagues after work.
工作结束我和同事一起去吃宵夜了。

 

4. burn out
精疲力尽

片中例句：

Tonight？I … No. I was supposed to meet friends but I’m really burnt out. Don't be mad at me.
今晚？我……不行，我本来打算见朋友的，但实在太累了。别生我的气啊！

Notes: burn out原意是“烧光,熄灭”，在这里表示“精疲力尽，很累。”例如：

The fire burnt out very quickly.
火很快就熄灭了。

You’ll burn yourself out if you keep working so hard.
你再这么辛苦工作下去会筋疲力尽的。

5. mull over
仔细考虑

片中例句：

No，technically I have six and I’m mulling over a gum purchase, so I think you should go.
不，准确地说我有6件商品，而且我正在考虑要不要买口香糖，所以你可以在我前面结账的。

Notes: mull over的意思是认真琢磨，反复思考某件事。例如：

We need some time to mull it over and decide if we really need the product.
我们得花点时间仔细考虑，想想我们到底需不需要这个产品。

 

6. swing by
短暂拜访

I just was actually in the area and so I just figured I’d swing by and see if he was around.
我刚好在这附近，就想着进来看看他是不是也在。

Notes: swing by的意思是“短暂拜访，进某个地方一会儿”，表示凑巧和时间短。例如：

I’ll swing by the Chinese Restaurant today. Would you like any take-out there?
今天我要去那家中餐馆，你需要我带些那儿的外卖吗？
