【笔译的两大技巧】

汉译英：逻辑转化
英译汉：抽象名词的处理

【逻辑外显】

英文注重词句之间内在逻辑的外显

【例】“小身材”的翻译
身材：build
小身材→在身材方面小：small in build

【真题】古代的大师们创造着独自心中的意象及其程式，风格迥异，生机勃勃。(2012年3月高级口译真题)
风格：style
迥异：different varied diverse
风格迥异→在风格方面迥异：diverse in style
生机勃勃→在内容方面生动：vivid in content

【真题】这样的画作一泛滥，雅的不再雅，俗的则更俗。(2012年3月高级口译真题)
雅：refined
俗：vulgar unrefined
雅的不再雅，俗的则更俗：The refined ones lose their refinement, while the unrefined ones become more unrefined.

【逻辑转化】

在这句中，前后两句话的意思是相近的：不再雅≈则更俗

其他两句话意思相近的中文意思有：海内存知己，天涯若比邻 Long distance separates no bosom friends.

不再雅+则更俗=雅的水准的下降

【例】“客气”的翻译
There is no time for diplomacy

【例】 我睡得很少。
I'm sleep-deprived.
I suffer from sleep-depravation.

雅的水准的“下降”=退化、降级、恶化、腐蚀（词汇只要符合某种逻辑，在任何领域中都可以使用）
下降：degradation deterioration erosion
不再雅，则更俗：an erosion of refinement
雅的不再雅，俗的则更俗：an erosion of refinement in the art world

原句的逻辑关系为：这样的画作一泛滥导致了an erosion of refinement
A导致了B：A results in B; A contributes to B; With A comes B.

最终翻译版本为：With the excessive imitation of such practice comes an erosion of refinement in the art world.

【真题】他们总是知道该如何讨妻子欢心，避免矛盾，一家人其乐融融。(2007年9月高口真题)
翻译一：They are well versed in the art of pleasing their wives, avoid quarrel, harmony pervades the families.
翻译二：They are well versed in the art of pleasing their wives to avoid quarrel so that harmony pervades the families.

【英语的静态与汉语的动态】

【例】昨晚没睡好吗？
翻译一：Didn't you sleep well last night?
翻译二：Rough night?

【例】我刚我妈大吵了一架。
翻译一：I just fighted with my mom very hard.
翻译二：Big fight with my mom.

英语中通常使用“形容词+名词”偏正结构，而中文一般使用“动词+副词”，因此上例中翻译二更优。

【例】A steady diet of this food is fattening.
翻译一：对此食品的稳定摄入是会令人发胖的。
翻译二：如果你经常吃此类食品，你就会发胖。

【抽象名词】

access 进入，获取，得到渠道

【例】Michael is accessible. →the accessibility of Michael
迈克尔为人平易近人

【例】the accessibility of newspaper writing
新闻写作应该通俗易懂

【例】the inaccessibility of the prices of mobile phones when they first come out
手机刚刚问世时的价格的不可接近性
→手机刚刚问世时，其价格往往令大多数人望而却步/囊中羞涩。

【英语的名词化】

【例】你今晚有空吗？
Are you available tonight?

【例】The availability of venture captial to young companies
对于新开业的公司的风险投资的可得到性
→风险投资开始流入一些刚开业的公司。

The availability of venture captial to young companies has been a primary contributor to the dramatic revenue growth enjoyed by American’s high technology industry.
风险投资开始涌入新开业的高科技公司，这对美国高科技产业收入的大幅度增长起了重要作用。

【真题】the author is content to give them a theatrical existence of their own （2010年3月高口真题）
如果这些角色能够在舞台上获得生命力，作者便会心满意足。

【真题】these amazing accounts of amazing experiences （2010年3月中口真题）
大量引入真人真事

【真题】But we do not believe that climate change is a certainty.（2011年3月中口真题）
但我们也相信气候变化也并不是必然的。

【例】To be sure, television is a great invention, if handled in moderation.
当然，如果人们可以做到适可而止地看电视，那么电视可以被看成是一个伟大的发明。

【例】Asian-Americans have developed a much stronger emphasis on intense academic preparation
在美国，亚裔学生念书都是头悬梁锥刺股。
